WESTCLIFF FILM & VIDEO CLUB

PHOTO GALLERY - DIGITAL DAY

Southend Library, Saturday 19th November 2005

Wow! What a great day! Held over a Saturday at Southend Library, Westcliff Film & Video Club Digital Day attracted enthusiasts and the first time curious digital image makers from the moment the doors opened. With demonstrations on how to edit video, make slideshows and DVD’s and help with digital photography it was sure to be a winner. The comments Westcliff have received from those who attended the day for help and advice made all the effort involved in hosting the day worthwhile.

Comments like “I can’t believe how professional and knowledgeable the hosts were” and “I came for a simple answer to a problem I was having with my new digital camera and went away astonished at what I could achieve with such a simple device”. Also “Being greeted at the Library entrance and then led personally to someone who could help me was just fantastic, it just put me at ease’, “What a friendly helpful bunch of people, when are you going to hold another event?”  With an impressive display of hardware on show but with the emphasis clearly on how to get great results with the minimum of outlay proved a popular approach.

The event was supported by a couple of image making software giants in form of Canopus and Ulead. Both supplied fully working trial versions of their software ranges and more literature than you could shake a stick at. Ulead also donated fully working boxed package DVD making software which was offered as a prize in draw.

Congratulations go to Mr and Mrs Roger Caunter who after attending the day for demonstrations on DVD making and digital photo improvement went home with the star prize. Roger said of his win “I just can’t believe it, I fully intended to buy the package from Ulead as I was so impressed with what it can do. To win it is just the icing on the cake for what turned out for us to be a great, fun and rewarding day, thank you to all at Westcliff Film and Video Club”. Much to Mr and Mrs Caunter’s delight they also received a free years membership to WFVC.

A big thank you to all those who supported the day, Canopus, Ulead, the shops that distributed the advertising literature and all the members of Westcliff Film and Video Club who gave their time and effort to make it such a successful day. We’re looking forward to the next one.
