WESTCLIFF FILM & VIDEO CLUB

CONTACTS PAGE - WHO'S WHO

Westcliff Film and Video Club is run by a team of volunteers – the ‘Committee’ whose job it is to administer the club and organise a programme of meetings for members to enjoy.  Any member of the committee can be contacted via our generic email address:- wfvc@hotmail.com

The Committee

The activities of the club are governed by a group of voluntary members who are democratically elected at our Annual General Meeting in May each year.  They are responsible for compiling our programme of events and for the administration of the clubs affairs during their term of office.

President: Martin Paterson

Martin is a long-standing member and stalwart of Westcliff and provides a great deal of support, experience and leadership.  He's probably the longest continually serving committee member the club has ever had.

Chairman: Ken Pratt

Ken is a keen photographer both movie and ‘still’, and is one of the club’s computer experts who is happy to assist members in getting to grips with the technology. Ken is a recognised lecturer in digital photography and image manipulation, particularly with Adobe Photoshop.

Vice Chairman: Chris Taylor

Chris is probably Westcliff’s longest-standing member having joined nearly 40 years ago!  Chris is another member who has given the committee very many years of service and brings an incredible wealth of experience to this post.

Secretary: Dave Windle

Dave joined the committee last season and settled into his role very quickly.   He is also one of the clubs most successful film makers and a considerable contributor to the clubs success in winning the North Thames Region Triangle Competition.  No pressure for the next season then!!

Treasurer: Lesley Paterson

Lesley is the ‘other half’ of President Martin and the club’s ‘money bags! As a teacher, Lesley’s skills are invaluable in ensuring that the best instructional opportunities are derived from the club’s programme.

Competitions Officer: Don Mouatt

With the exception of Chris Taylor, our vice chairman, Don is probably one of our longest serving club members.  Don has also spent many years on the committee in various posts and he's also the clubs Auditor.  Don probably started making movies when celluloid was invented and he continues to make award winning films to this day.  Consequently, his opinion is always valued.  He is also well known for his witty and humorous view on film making.

Technical Officer: Neville Rumsey

Neville's job is to put the members’ movies up there on the big screen. With Neville at the controls of our fabulous Sony Projector they look magnificent at over 2 metres wide!  Neville has a technical background and proved his worth last year in his first term of office.  With this under his belt, we look forward to another year of his expertise.

Publicity Officer: Nigel Woodham

Nigel is very experienced film maker with probably more TV air time than any other member!  Nigel's also got a great sense of humour and an incredible knack for winning the clubs raffle!

Social Secretary: David Swain

David was co-opted onto the committee last year but he's been such a valuable asset that we was encouraged to stand again this year.  And, we're pleased that he accepted.  You'll always find David busy in the background, like many of our unsung heroes!

Other famous names - Alfred Hitchcock

The club has been associated with many famous and well-known names, the most notable of which was our former Patron, the late Alfred Hitchcock. In 1963 ‘Hitch’ made the club its much prized and famous film.  Founder member and movie critic, John Kennedy Melling, remains a prominent supporter of Westcliff and attends our annual Awards Night. TV personality Jeremy Beadle is also a keen Westcliff supporter having used many a Westcliff film in his TV programmes
